Top ten favorite blogs for 2012 AND Mellow Yellow Monday

4/30/2019 Update - unfortunately nearly all of the below listed blogs are no longer being maintained. A couple have moved over the Instagram. Vintage Passions Just Like Mine is now posting on IG as "damaluz" and Helga Von Trollop as "ladygarsington." The Hair Hall of Fame still posts but infrequently.

If you scroll down to the end of my blog, you will see "Blogodacious Blogs" where I highlight my favorite blogs.  There are some carryovers from last year My top 10 favorites for 2011 and some new ones this year.

gold country girls - They made my list last year.  Three sisters who live in the Sierra-Nevada foothills.  They have a down-homey writing/posting style.

Vintage Passions Just Like Mine - the third carry-over from my 2011 list.  A tarot-card reading missy with attitude.

Those newly discovered blogs ~

Crows Feet Chic - I like her motto, "The Best Thing About Being 50 is that you are in your own vintage photographs."  Her Doughboy and Remy posts are few and far between but hilarious!

Forgotten Bookmarks - a rare bookseller who posts images of the personal, funny, heartbreaking and weird items she finds in books.

Helga Von Trollop - I didn't include Helga on last year's list and I should have, she is one of my continuing favorites.  She is a color fashion maven and inspires me to be bold in my outfits.  She describes her blog as Frocks in abundance. Music. Opshopping. Food. Cats. Movies. Sewing. Books. Hats. Some idiocy. 50s/60s/70s GLAMTASARAMA!

My Photo

Sue Loves Cherries - A sweet blogger who hosts Rednesday - Wednesday blog posts dedicated to the color red.

The Good The Bad The Worse - I found Linda through the We Work For Cheese June 2012 writing challenge.  She has a great sense of humor and smooth writing style.

The Hair Hall Of Fame - hair, hair and more hair

The Hair Hall of Fame

Last but not least, We are: clamco they are my kind of people.  I "met" them on one of their hosted blog hops.  They describe themselves as:

We are a close family of three with varied interests. We dubbed ourselves CLAMCO (an anagram of our initials) as a fictional family business name. (C)hris makes Steampunk jewelry, modified Nerf guns and goggles. (L)orraine buys collectibles at estate sales and flea markets and sells them on Ebay. (A)nd (M)egan is a very talented young artist and published author. Our so-called (CO)mpany is in northeast PA but we plan to relocate south in 2013. We are aiming toward a more minimalist lifestyle where we collect memories and experiences instead of stuff.

There you have it, my Top Ten, an eclectic mix of sass and frass.

Hopping over to Mellow Yellow MondayMellowYellowBadge to post all of my fashion pics in a YELLOW extravaganza!

Lady Luck has smiled on me recently.  I was a Christmas raffle winner from Interfaith Great Find's of this sweet pamper basket.

The contents will provide birthday presents for both my mom and daughter.

While the pricing at Interfaith hovers at near retail for certain items, framed prints literally go for a song.  These two darling der Kinder prints will be re-framed and matted together as one.  A 2013 present to me.

The second set of prints I just couldn't resist - they are perfect for a baby's room.  I know I will find a use for them.

The calendar and spoon holder finished out the lot of finds, including a long skirt (not pictured), all for $7.

Wishes for bargains and vintage delights in the New Year!

Back to our regular programming and pondering with a purpose

Phew, now that all the Christmas business is over ...

I saw this tip on a calendar, "Before putting away holiday decorations, take photos of your home's current holiday displays.  Pack the photos with the decorations when you store them.  The photos will serve as reminders of decoration placement when you begin decking the halls next year."

REEEALLLY?  I kinda just put things where I want to.  I didn't even put up a real tree this year.  Grinchmas, I know.  My decorations will be all stored away within the next day or two.

I am pondering today with brendayoungerman.  Brenda asks:

Do you make new years resolutions? And if so, do you keep them? The reason I'm asking this is because I honestly never thought I would make any, forget keeping them....but three years ago I resolved to not be as judgmental as I was and I honestly think it worked.....so this year I an resolving to find out one thing everyday that makes me happy, even if it is as simple as taking the dog for a walk. Somewhere in the madness of living I forgot how to enjoy life...and honestly it is too previous not to enjoy. I would love it if you left a comment, or linked up your post....or better yet, both! Happy pondering....and Happy New Year.

I do have a couple of resolutions, of sorts, I am waiting on Wells Fargo of the Evil Empire to approve a loan modification so I can move forward with my life.  Do I keep the house?  Do I let it go?

My college education continues, baby step by baby step.  Since I work full-time, I take 3-6 credits a semester.  I don't think you would call that the fast track ... more like turtle pace.  I will get there - eventually.

Lastly, I hope to be more fashion forward in the New Year - wear more color, wear bright lipstick, be bold!

Kitschmas Day!

1962 Christmas program

Happy Holidays to one and all!

Amador Hospice Thrift Shop was open on Christmas Eve so I swooped in and redeemed my punch card in exchange for these items:  American Living navy blue floral print skirt.

A wheat print Pyrex bowl

Fishing lures for Mr. VZ.  Since he does fish both salt and fresh water, he is bound to use these.

A small utility tool with a knife and bottle opener.

Merry Christmas to me -that is why I am the thrift shop commando.

Kitschmas Eve, Herman the Christmas Marlin

Each year I am in charge of the company Christmas party.  We were set to have the event catered in but at the last minute there was a snafu with the contracted restaurant.  The group ended up at McCormick & Schmick's seafood restauant on J Street in Sacramento.  My Christmas wishes were granted!  After lunch, we returned to the office for a white elephant gift exchange and photos with Herman the Christmas Marlin.  Nearly everyone posed with the trophy fish.  Here is my best shot ~

The extent of my craphting with Herman was the addition of the thrift shop finds of the Santa hat and apron.  I also did my first photo slideshow with all of the Herman "posers" and group images from the restaurant.  My goal for the new year is to learn video editing.  Herman might become my vlog guinea pig.

Of course, we all know you are not doing this on Christmas Eve!

Thank you to those bloggers that linked in to my Countdown to Kitschmas blog hop.

Countdown to Kitschmas Day 23 and Smashin Fashion

This sweetie and two of her cohorts designed by K. Adler sold for $5 on shopgoodwill.com.

A girl really can't be stylin unless she is wearing the latest in fashion TREES!

Or the latest in ornaments ...

Actually, this is more my speed (no, it is not me, but awfully darn close...)  I wore cat-eye glasses from 3rd grade until 7th grade ('fraid it scarred me for life).
